NETWORKED COMMUNICATIONS

 

Transcendence contains many examples of networked communications. At the beginning of the movie, Will Caster (Johnny Depp) creates a Faraday Cage out of copper mesh in his garden. He demonstrated to his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) that it is able to block electromagnetic signals by pulling out his cell phone and exclaiming that it was a "dead zone". Another example is the PINN system (Physically Independent Neural Network), a network of quantum computers that is able to simulate the human brain, whith far superior intelligence. When Will created his utopian society in Brightwood, he was able to tap into the network of all the citizens and was able to read and control their thoughts and actions.
