     INFORMATION PRIVACY

Privacy becomes of the utmost importance in the movie. After Will Caster (Johhny Depp) is uploaded into the mainframe, he begins to display his new found prowess in slightly distrubing ways. During, a critical moment when talking to his wife Evelyn, he was revealed to have been secretly monitoring her phyiscal body. His body sensors were able to pick up even the most minute details about her. They were monitoring her heart beat, blood flow, breathing rate, and hormone production. With all this information he could tell when she was lying and how she felt emotionally around him. Technology has not come so far yet, but there is software available that can recognize behaviorial patterns that could lead to future software that may be able to detect even the slightest changes in a person. This also relates to the RFID tags mentioned in the textbook. By scanning the codes it's possible to have a similar level of information that Will had. Implanted chips also give information about the body that doctors can use to monitor patients. Will just happens to do it all with sensors, but with the hybrids, he actually has chips and hardware implanted inside so he can collect all this information.

There was also an example during the beginning of the movie with the facial recognition displayed by the PINN system. PINN, was an advanced AI that recognized several characters as they entered the room through data mining and recognition software. It was able to pull up information that allowed it to talk and interact with the characters with reasonable capability. PINN showed how easy it is to pull up information and apply it to current software. Of course, AI has not gotten to this point yet, but it does not seem too far out of the future.
