COMPUTER RELIABILITY

 

 

The movei is actually a very interesting medium to discuss comptuer reliability in. The AI that is produced by Will is undoubtedly Will's creation. Any mistakes that happen because of the AI can be blamed on will. However, when Will's consciousness is uploaded into the AI, there is a discrepency. The AI has effectively become autonomous and we are left with the question if whether or not the AI is domianted by Will's consciousness or is simply a really well coded piece of software that merely emulates his personality. When the AI begins to invades people's privacy, the question is who to blame. If one believes that Will is in control of the AI, then he is to blame even though he has died already. If one believes that the AI is not Will, then the blame falls on Max and Evelyn. A similar situation right now is happening with self-drivign cars. Self-driving cars are more reliable than humans, but we cannot fully utilize them until we cover the legal issues as well. Google cars have driven over 700,000 miles without being in an accident caused by their software, but the chance can always happen. [1]
